Social Media is quickly taking over the world and it is here to stay.
There is a huge benefit to social media. We can all agree on that.
You can build your own brand, promote your business, build an audience and share your best moments with the whole world.
But social media isn’t just all sunshine and rainbows. It’s poison. It steals your joy, your life energy and it can destroy your happiness.
Most people spend way too much time on social media and become miserable in the long run. They use it to numb the emptiness of their lives.
This immense social media use led to a whole generation of people who base their own self-worth on the reaction of others and men who have lost their masculinity.
But don’t worry. Even if you are a hard case social media addict you can overcome it and turn your whole life around.
In this post, you will learn why social media is negatively affecting your life and the tools to kick that addiction forever and unleash your inner badass in the process.
On top of that, you will learn how you can actually use social media for your own benefit while still staying a productive beast.
How Social Media Steals Your Time
The number one problem with social media is that it robs you of one of the most important things in life – your time.
Most people spend all their day checking their newsfeed, liking and sharing pictures, stalking their friends and celebrities and trying to take the perfect picture themselves.
With smartphones, everything got even worse because now there is instant access to social media everywhere we go. People are so distracted by social media, they can’t even keep a normal conversation.
Every free minute is spent on Instagram or Snapchat to get the latest news. Every interaction, every meal you eat, every place you visit has to be captured and shared, just to show others that you don’t live a boring life.
Sure, there is some fun to it. I get it. Everybody gets it. Social media isn’t just bullshit.
But most people let it take over their lives. They live only for it. They get their quick dopamine rush by checking their profiles, they base their self-worth on how many likes and shares they get, they have to constantly check it and can’t just sit still just enjoying the present moment.
Studies have found that people spend an average of about 5 to 9 hours every day on social media. 5 to 9 hours. That is insane! Let that sink in for a little bit.
Imagine how much time this is over a year. If you would just spend 1 hour each day on social media, that would already be 365 hours.
365 hours that could have been invested into growing as a person, training your body and your mind, growing your business and increasing your income, becoming more social and having awesome experiences in your real life. Multiply that by 5 to 9 and you’ll get an even scarier number.
What the hell guys? Is this really how you want to live? Technology was invented to assist your life and make it easier, not to let it take over your life.
You only have one shot at this life and you won’t get your wasted time back. So you better get your ass out there and do what you really want to do!
How Social Media Ruins Your Life
These days everybody bases his whole own self-worth on his social media success and the reactions of others.
This is as unhealthy as it gets and it will quickly destroy your mental well-being and crush your self-confidence into the floor.
Everywhere you go you see the perfect pictures of the hottest girls, the most aesthetic guys, perfectly prepared meals, crazy expensive outfits, cars and luxuries.
There are people who spend their whole day staging these pictures and editing them so they look just perfect.
The average Joe sees these pictures and asks himself why his life isn’t that cool and interesting. Why does his life suck?
He gets depressed and in a matter of seconds, his self-worth and confidence are crushed.
Then he tries to appear interesting as well, to an outside world that deep down doesn’t really care about him.
He becomes obsessed with the amount of followers, likes and fake friends he has and bases his whole identity on them.
If he gets them, good, his brain is satisfied for a moment but if not? His mind fucks up, self-doubt creeps in again and he feels worthless.
Social media creates a whole stage for people who try to get the attention of others and do everything for them. They try to appear perfect on the outside when in reality, their life is a hell on the inside.
These people always live in a reactionary mode, waiting for something external to make them happy, yet they can’t control these external circumstances so they will always suffer in the end.
They may be happy for a second when the dopamine rush kicks in and they get good feedback on their new pictures, but this quickly fades.
There will always be someone with a better physique, a better car, a hotter girlfriend, more likes and more followers.
This is a whole generation of people who live only to show other people that they don’t really care about, how cool their lives are. But in the end, nobody gives a shit about anybody other than themselves and it is all a giant fake show.
How Social Media Turns You Into a Pathetic Needy Loser
If you think about it, the whole concept of social media kinda is crazy.
I mean, the sole purpose of social media platforms like Instagram seems to be providing an online platform for hot girls to post half-naked pictures and get validation and fake internet points from their friends and beta-stalkers.
It is basically a contest of who is the hottest and who can get the most likes and followers. They spend the whole day trying to get a picture but if it doesn’t get at least a 1000 likes, then hey, let’s just delete it.
Of course there is money involved as well but still, if you think about it the whole idea is crazy. There are girls literally prostituting themselves for easy likes and money.
But the worst of all of this are the guys who buy into all of this stuff.
They praise these fake models with compliments in the comments and desperately hope to have a chance with them. They treat them like goddesses.
These guys turn into complete losers and perverts and write the most disgusting shit under their pictures. They lose all their dignity and self-respect and become needy sheep. It makes me sick.
Yet these girls don’t even notice them. They use them to fulfill their ego and further push their social media presence.
Why are all the guys these days such spineless losers who get off on virtual pictures? Do they seriously think they have a chance with them?
You are doing the exact opposite of what you are trying to achieve. With every comment, you are turning into more of a pathetic loser and show these girls that you value them more than yourself!
What do you get in return for praising these girls? Nothing. You only look like a needy creep without a life.
So why don’t you concentrate on actually going out, living your life to the fullest and having awesome experiences in your life? That way, you might as well meet awesome women and have real sex.
The Real Reason For Your Social Media Addiction
These days I spend only a couple minutes each day on social media and most of that time is spent promoting my businesses.
But it wasn’t always like that.
I too used to spend hours on social media playing stupid Facebook games, stalking people and scrolling the news feed.
Many readers can probably relate to that. But here is the thing.
The reason I spent so much time on social media back then and not now is that I WAS BORED. I was bored to death. There was nothing I could do. I had no purpose. Nothing that I could look forward to.
I spend my days like most people do nowadays. I went to school, came home, watched TV, played video games, and spend the rest of my time on social media and the cycle repeated itself every day.
But as that changed, as I discovered my purpose, I automatically stopped doing these things.
How To Become A Real Life Badass and Overcome Your Social Media Addiction
Never forget that there is an unbelievable badass in yourself. Even if you don’t know it yet.
You are worth something and now we are going to take a look at how we can unleash that ultimate potential that is hidden inside of yourself!
Become Addicted To Happiness
You got to find yourself something that makes your heart beating. Go out there and live your life.
Start doing the things that you want to do. If there is something that you want to do, then do it. Do not wait, do not search for excuses why you can’t or shouldn’t do it right now, just do it.
Do you want to start a new sport? Wanna start playing instruments? Want to get in shape? Want to start going out more often and having fun with girls?
Just fucking do it. There is no reason why you can’t start a new sport, get in shape or learn a new instrument. You are never too old for this stuff.
Just do it. Who cares if you don’t like it or you are not good at it. Hey, at least you tried. You can stop whenever you want and now you are one step closer to discovering the things you do like and you have got another cool story in your arsenal!
In other words, search for hobbies and activities that you like. Find yourself a life purpose or just set goals and work hard to achieve them!
Become Addicted To Growth
Do everything you can to improve yourself in all areas of your life. Become the best fucking person you could possibly become. Do not settle for mediocrity. Strive for greatness and do everything to unlock the God-given potential that is inside of you.
That means:
- Read
- Meditate
- Lift
- Eat right
- build your own brand
- cultivate your hobbies
- optimize your health
- dress like a badass
- improve your social skills
- sleep like a baby but don’t forget to kill it if you need to
If your day is filled with activities that actually interest you, you will automatically stop wasting your time on social media. You won’t even think about it anymore.
It will just not be an option anymore because you don’t have the time for it. You have got better shit to do!
The same goes for all addictions that you need to kick.
Experience All Of Lifes Beauty and Pain
You can’t just live your life on passive mode waiting for something awesome to happen. That way you will stay bored and depressed your whole life and waste it on social media and other pointless things.
Go out there and live your life. Stop wasting your time, sitting in front of a TV, PC or smartphone, looking at other peoples pictures and mentally masturbating.
There is so much more to life than that. Put yourself out there man. Experience life and all of its beauty and pain. Get heartbroken, get beaten down, get hurt.
These are the best experiences you will have!
Get a Little Help From Social Media Limiting Tools
The above tips should be the core of your social media recovery. They will get at the core problem which is your life is boring and sucks and make it not suck anymore.
If your life is still boring and you have nothing to do than any tool, trick or app to limit your time on it won’t work.
There is a certain tool that I recommend, though it only helps with Facebook.
It is called Kill News Feed and is a completely free add-on for your browser. It automatically blocks the most time-wasting feature of Facebook – the newsfeed.
Instead of your newsfeed, you will get this screen right here:

When your news feed is blocked, you will automatically waste less time on Facebook scrolling around watching random “funny” videos and memes.
The Eternal Cycle Of Social Media Addiction
When I first installed KillNewsFeed years ago, I caught myself logging into Facebook to fill the emptiness in my life and whenever I felt bored, which as it turned out, was quite often.
But there was nothing there. My newsfeed was blocked so there was nothing I could check.
Still, I would log in a while later and this process repeated itself again and again.
What I noticed was that mindlessly going on social media is just a bad habit.
You do it because you have ingrained that habit into your subconscious. Every time you feel bored, you check your social media feed to get that kick and a slight dopamine rush that makes you feel better for a second.
Breaking Out Of The Social Media Madness
There are certain things that will automatically trigger your social media addiction. These vary from person to person.
You will have to identify your individual triggers and mindfully replace going on social media with a good habit.
Here are some examples:
Whenever you pick up your smartphone, instead of checking your social media, you read one informative blog post or a motivational quote for success.
Every time you come home from work or school, instead of immediately turning on your PC and going on social media, you stop yourself and meditate for 5 minutes.
Every time you feel bored and feel the urge to go on social media, you do 20 push-ups instead.
Instead of checking your social media before you go to sleep, you ingrain a bedtime routine. Such a routine might consist of some light stretching or yoga, brushing your teeth, reading a book, meditating and going to sleep.
The beautiful advantage of this is that once your main source of entertainment is gone, you will be forced to find new things that give you that feeling of happiness.
You will transform your own life and start to become the badass that you were supposed to be.
How To Use Social Media For Your Own Benefit
As you can see, I am not really against social media.
I am not saying go and delete all your social media profiles and become a monk in the mountains that spends the rest of his days meditating and doing yoga. Not at all.
If you have a cool picture or video then by all means, post it. Just don’t overthink the process.
Don’t spend 10 hours trying to take the perfect picture, edit it for another 10 hours only to post it to Instagram. That is a waste of time.
The key is posting authentic and real pictures that work in your favor. That might be you doing cool stuff, in a cool location, setting or a cool situation.

If you don’t have anything interesting to post, then don’t.
Only take high-quality pictures and don’t post stupid stuff that you will regret posting later.
Speaking of which, it might be a good idea to go through all your past posts and inspect them carefully and delete everything that doesn’t serve you right or actually harms you.
As I said, just randomly liking and commenting girls you find attractive hoping that they might like you is one of the worst things you can do on social media.
Don’t be that guy worshiping girls and models you don’t even know in the comments telling them how beautiful they are.
It makes you look needy. In her eyes, you give her the power and lower your own value – this is bad.
So stop doing that. You won’t get her into bed that way.
Be a little bit more scarce with your comments and likes too. Only comment if you have something interesting or funny to say, or if there is an insider and you want to tease her a little bit.
The key is to not fake something to make it look more interesting but to actually become more interesting and make your life more interesting.
Having a good social media profile opens up plenty of new opportunities and it increases your Sexual Market Value.
When a girl stalks your profile she will think that you have a really cool and interesting life and are probably cool to hang out with.
But it will be genuine and there won’t be any faking involved. This way, your life and the person behind your pictures will actually be interesting!
Unleash Your Inner Rebel
Social media is important in today’s world and you should definitely do everything to optimize your social media presence and use it for your own benefit.
You can use social media to benefit your life, to have even greater experiences, to earn even more money, to get yourself out there, make awesome connections and to have a cool profile that attracts people to you.
But don’t base your whole fucking life on it.
Life is supposed to be lived outside in the real world. There is nothing that matches the feeling of having fun in real life, with really cool people, having awesome experiences, seeing cool places, doing cool things, achieving your goals, going forward.
Social media can’t give that to you. You think it does but it actually doesn’t. All it gives to you is an illusion. A quick high thinking that you live that cool because you see that cool picture or get more likes, but nothing else.
At the end of the day, likes, followers, shares, all of that is not important. Life is all about the experience.
Sure you can use social media for your own benefit. By all means, go ahead and do it.
But in all of that social media madness that is going on in the world right now, don’t forget the real thing.
You can use fancy tools to try to kick your social media addiction. But in the end, it’s you who has to do it.
It’s all about how bad you want to succeed.
Do you want to stop being a loser whose life is being consumed by social media? Do you want to experience life to its fullest?
You do? Great because now it’s your time to shine and unleash your inner rebel!
